Youth Open Mic Night in Kyneton

Published on 10 June 2021

Live music is back in Kyneton! If you’re aged 12-25 come along to an Open Mic Night on Thursday 17 June.

Hosted by rock band, ‘Sack of Flour’, who will also open the night with a set, this is your opportunity to play some classics or try out new material.

If you’re a solo artist, a band, or just coming along to cheer on your friends, the Youth team encourages you to come down and support our local live music scene.

There is no cost to attend, and a free BBQ will be provided. Sign-ups to perform at will be taken on the door.

Chris Fox, Macedon Ranges Shire Council Youth Engage Program Officer, said it was exciting to see local live music and open mic nights returning.

“After a quiet year in 2020, the live music scene in the Macedon Ranges is getting back on its feet. We’re pleased to be able to provide the young people of the Ranges a space to perform and see live music again.”

“One of the great thing about an open mic night is that it’s just about having a go. Some people used the lockdowns of 2020 to learn a new instrument, and some focused on taking their skills to a new level. No matter if you’re experienced or just starting out, we’re keen to hear you play,” said Chris.

This event is run accordance with COVIDSafe guidelines, including wearing face masks while indoors, and check in upon entry using the Service Victoria app.
