The night sky will inspire families taking part in the Gannawarra Library Service’s school holiday program, occurring between Tuesday, 29 June and Thursday, 8 July.
The Cohuna Library and Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library will host three sessions each during the two-week program, catering for school-aged children.
“The Gannawarra Library Service is renowned for its school holidays program, which continues to grow in popularity each year,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“Activities planned for these school holidays are inspired by the 2020 David Malin Awards Winning Sky Photos Exhibition, currently on display at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library.”
Activities on offer during the two-week program include:
Starry Nights – 10am Tuesday, 29 June (Kerang) and 2.30pm Wednesday, 30 June (Cohuna) Designed for children eight years of age and older, participants will be able to use various art materials to recreate their own interpretation of Vincent Van Gogh’s iconic painting, The Starry Night. Moon Lamp – 10am Thursday, 1 July (Kerang) and 2.30pm Wednesday, 7 July (Cohuna) Participants of all ages will enjoy creating their own moon night light. Wind-up toy critters – 10am Monday, 5 July (Cohuna) and 10am Thursday, 8 July (Kerang)Designed for primary school children, participants will be able to create wind-up toys using tactile modelling clay.
“Children attending any of these sessions must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, with all attendees required to adhere to the COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“Most importantly, if you are feeling unwell on the day of any of these events, please stay home.”
