Wyndham City is continuing the fight against motorbike hooning, by donating two off-road motorbikes to Victoria Police.

Victoria Police will use the bikes for officers to patrol off-road areas to combat illegal trail bike riding and motorbike hooning.

Wyndham Mayor Cr Adele Hegedich said as part of a Memorandum of Understanding, Wyndham City has provided police with the two bikes since 2017.

“Wyndham City enjoys a strong relationship with Victoria Police, and we are continually working to find ways in which we can assist them to do their job.”

“Providing these bikes is one way Council can assist and also keep our residents safe.”

Wyndham City Community Safety Portfolio Holder, Cr Susan McIntyre, welcomed the donation.

“Illegal trail bike riding puts the safety of our residents at risk,” Cr McIntyre said. “There is no excuse for someone to use our parks and reserves for illegal riding of motorcycles or other illegal activities.”

“With school holidays around the corner, we need our residents to feel safe and be able to play and use our parks and pathways safely – without the threat of illegal trail bikes,” Cr McIntyre said.

If residents are affected by illegal trail bike use on roads or in Council parks and reserves, they should contact the Victoria Police Hoon Hotline on 1800 333 000.
