OUR OPPORTUNITY

Positioned within Council’s Community Education & Compliance Department, the successful candidate must be able to work in a busy high-volume environment with strong communication and organisation skills. The Community Safety and Animal Management Officer position will involve delivering a diverse range of proactive and reactive services that maximise compliance with Animal Management, Local Laws, Pool Safety & Building and environment related legislation. This opportunity is a multi-discipline role so experience across all areas is essential to ensure that an efficient and effective service is provided and that the outcomes, particularly in the area of development compliance are of a high standard, consistent with Council and community expectations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Diploma of Building Inspection/Certification (or equivalent) qualification or willingness to undertake as per agreed personal training and development plan. Experience (2 – 4 years) in undertaking investigations and determining appropriate compliance or enforcement strategies as a Local Government Ranger, Local Law Officer, or similar Local Government work Knowledge in all aspects of commercial and domestic building and plumbing systems. Demonstrates ability to formulate concise and accurate written reports and correspondence. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting building legislation, planning schemes, policies, development conditions and plans of development. The role requires the possession of a current C Class Open Australian Drivers Licence.

OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR VALUED EMPLOYEES

Salary $78,631.73 per annum; Nominally 72.5 hours per fortnight; 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading; 12% super in accordance with Council policy; and RDO’s in accordance with Council policy. Applications Close: Monday 5 July 2021
