Water boil reminder for parts of Emerald

Posted on June 22, 2021

Council’s water network crews have continued to monitor the water quality in areas affected by the unplanned water outage on Monday 21 June 2021.

To check for visual signs of discolouration water mains have been flushed in several locations and further laboratory testing throughout the day has not flagged areas of concern.

People in areas affected by the water outage on Monday are asked to continue to boil water for consumption until the council receives clear water sampling results from Queensland Health. This is expected to be sometime on Wednesday 23 June 2021.

Water boil alert instructions

Water for consumption should be brought to a rolling boil until further notice.

Water should then be allowed to cool and stored in a clean container with a lid and refrigerated. Cooled boiled or bottled water should be used for:

drinking, cooking, washing raw foods (such as seafood or salads), making ice, pet’s drinking water and cleaning teeth. dishes should be washed in hot soapy water and children should take bottled or cooled boiled water to school.
