Weddin Shire Council, in partnership with Cowra Shire Council, is holding a free introductory briefing session for potential candidates in the Weddin and Cowra Shires who are considering standing in the September 2021 local government elections.
The two-hour session will provide participants with an understanding of the role of Councillor and how it fits in with other roles and levels of government, as well as the expectations and potential challenges of being a Councillor.

SPORT ACCESS FOUNDATION 2021 GRANTSSport Access Foundation are offering a number of grants to assist with and support the participation of children with a disability in local sports clubs and competitions in 2021.
The Kick Start grant is available to children living with a disability to ensure they can access the financial support to reconnect with sports after the social isolation impacts of COVID-19. The BlueScope Sporting club grant is available to clubs that currently provide or are about to implement inclusive programs to encourage children with a disability to join.

NEW REQUIREMENT FOR ONLINE DEVELOPMENT APPLICATIONSThe NSW Government recently released legislative changes which require all Development Applications to be lodged electronically via the NSW Planning Portal from 1 July 2021.
The NSW Planning Portal is a central platform through which Development Applications and other applications can be submitted online; anywhere, anytime.
Weddin Shire Council commenced accepting Development Applications, Modifications, Complying Development Certificate applications, Construction Certificates, Occupation Certificates and Section 68 applications via the Portal on 17 May 2021. Applicants can continue to lodge these applications at Council’s Administration Building up until 1 July 2021.
