Go girls! Council supports increase in female sport participation

To support the continued growth of community sports participation, especially among women and girls, Council is stepping up to deliver more and better-quality amenities to ensure we keep up with demand and support every sportsperson.

Porter Reserve is the home ground for Newport Rugby Club and Newport Junior Rugby Club and is heavily used during the winter sports season for training, games, and gala days.

The existing amenities building next to the playing field currently has only one changeroom. This is no longer adequate to meet the community’s recreational needs.

Council has been working with the club and is proposing a new amenities building next to the clubhouse which will include a:
