Community satisfaction survey results 2021
Bayside City Council 30 Jun 2021

Following a year like no other, this year’s community satisfaction survey results are in with Bayside City Council moving to a ‘good’ from ‘very good’ level of satisfaction.

The 2021 survey was delivered a little differently this year in response to the pandemic. The third Melbourne lockdown in February 2021 forced a switch from our traditional face-to-face interviews to telephone interviews of 700 randomly selected residents.

Getting the essentials right

Overall, residents rated their satisfaction with Council’s services and facilities as "very good".

These services were rated as ‘excellent’:

Garbage, recycling, and hard waste  Local libraries  Services for older people  Services for children from birth to 5 years of age  Maintenance of parks, gardens and reserves

Satisfaction with overall performance also remains higher than the average for the six inner eastern region Councils.

Issues and concerns

The annual community satisfaction survey is also an opportunity to explore current issues of concern in Bayside for residents.

The top issues were:

Planning, building and development Car parking  Parks, gardens and open space Sports and recreation facilities Traffic management

About the survey

The community satisfaction survey is conducted by independent company Metropolis Research. Each year, 700 randomly selected households take part in the survey, which is traditionally conducted through face-to-face doorknock interviews. The survey is just one of the ways that we measure our performance and the community’s satisfaction with the services, facilities, and leadership that Council provides.
