On Saturday 26 June, the NSW Government announced stay-at-home orders for Greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong.
Everyone in Greater Sydney must stay at home until 11.59 pm Friday 9 July 2021 unless you are:
shopping for food or other essential goods and services; seeking medical care or compassionate needs (people can leave home to have a COVID-19 vaccination unless you have been identified as a close contact); exercising outdoors in groups of 10 or fewer; undertaking work, or education, where you cannot work or study from home.Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Council has had to close a number of venues and facilities. School holiday activities and ideas to do at home:
Learn to draw Mickey Mouse. Download the free 'Wild Home Play' e-book. (Please note - payment details are not required to download this e-book). Download free Disney movie activity packs. Do environmental learning activities (in line with the school curriculum). Plant a vegetable garden. Recording a frog call with The Australian Museum's FrogID app to you can discover which frogs live around you and help them count Australia's frogs! Encourage the kids to grab their favourite book, pick a character they want to play, dress up like them, and put on a play! Do the combination man drawing activity. Go on a virtual field trip. Do a virtual tour of over 2,500 museums and galleries. Watch live webcams of animals at the San Diego Zoo and Melbourne Zoo! Watch a children's book being read by celebrities. Pick a theme for a day (e.g. Harry Potter, Disney character, favourite movie, LEGO), dress up in that theme and do any activities related to the theme. Play a board game. Do a puzzle. Do some arts and crafts. Make jewellery at home. Do a drawing lesson with Mo Willems, the author of 'Don't let the Pigeon Stay up Late'. Bake something new with the kids. Get them involved! Learn how to do something new. Have the kids think of something they want to learn about. Learn about the history of anywhere in the world. Learn about the weather, climate, atmosphere, water, energy, plants and animals with the NASA initiative. Learn a language. Paint. Draw with chalk on the driveway. Play a sport (soccer, handball, touch football etc.) in the backyard. Do some kid friendly workouts at home with the kids. Take the dog for a walk. Teach the dog a new trick. Dance parties! Camp in the lounge room or backyard. Go through old photo albums/videos and tell stories. Yoga and mindfulness activities for kids. Play an instrument online! Listen to astronauts reading stories from space. Do an online history class for all ages.
