The community are invited to help shape Burnie’s creative future!
Earlier this year, Council announced a change in direction for Burnie’s cultural precinct – where the city’s art gallery and museum would combine with its function centre to create a new cultural space.
Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said “We are excited to share the proposed new vision for Burnie's cultural precinct with the community and are keen to hear what they think about it.
This will not just be a cosmetic refurbishment of the Burnie Arts & Function Centre, but a new vision and model for culture and creativity in our city.”
A draft business case for this proposal has now been developed and Council wants to hear from you. We are now encouraging everyone in our community to read the Burnie Cultural Centre Draft Report and be part of the conversation by providing feedback via Council’s website (or by post if you’d rather).
Council will holding 2 information sessions to enable people to find out more. Where: Burnie Town Hall at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre When: Thursday, 15 July 2021 between 12pm and 1pm, and Monday, 19 July 2021 between 6pm and 7pm
The first round of consultation for this project will focus on the new vision for Burnie's cultural precinct, and this is presented in the Burnie Cultural Centre Draft Report.
Further consultation will be undertaken in later stages of the project such as building design.
Visit the consultation page to read the report, provide feedback and to find further information.
The consultation period will close on 31 July 2021.
