The Town of Cambridge has been selected to participate in the Small Business Friendly Approvals Program which is designed to streamline approvals for small businesses.
The program aims to make it easier to start, operate and grow a business in the Town by improving the way businesses can access the permits, licences and statutory approvals required by the Town in order to conduct a business.
The program is fully funded by the State Government and administered by the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC). Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon said the Town is extremely pleased to have been selected to participate in the program.
“Since joining the Small Business Friendly Local Government Initiative in 2018, the Town has been placing a greater focus on our small business community,” she said.
“Working with in partnership with the SBDC on this program will allow us to make real improvements in the way the Town services our business community.
“The importance of focussing on the health and strength of local businesses has never been more important than during the recent COVID-19 enforced lockdowns and this program provides an opportunity for the Town to make it easier for new and existing small businesses to thrive, in line with our vision for the best liveable suburbs.”
Small Business Commissioner David Eaton congratulated the Town of Cambridge on its selection to participate in the Program.

“I commend the Town for their commitment to their local businesses and look forward to seeing the impact of this regulatory reform on the success and growth of small businesses this area.
”The program, commencing this July , will run for six weeks and consists of 12 workshops delivered by a cross functional working group comprising representatives from key service areas such as Planning, Building, Environmental Health, Place Development and Customer Service.
