A Special Meeting of Council will be held on Tuesday 27 July to consider the Mt Wellington Cableway Company’s planning application proposing construction of a cable car and associated infrastructure on kunanyi/Mt Wellington.
The meeting will be held in the Hobart City Council Chambers and will start at 5pm.
Due to the capacity of the room, there will be no public gallery for the meeting. However, the meeting will be broadcast live via the City of Hobart’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/c/CityofHobart).
“We know there will be a lot of interest in this meeting and it’s important that it is accessible to everyone,” City of Hobart CEO Kelly Grigsby said.
“We’ve been working to improve the quality of our meeting broadcasts, so the best view of the meeting will be from the warmth and comfort of your own home.
“If you can’t access the online broadcast from home, we’ll have Mathers House open and a screen set up so you can drop in to watch the livestream.”
Ms Grigsby said the planning application drew a record-breaking 17,500 representations, demonstrating the high level of community interest and engagement.
The Council, acting as the Planning Authority, will consider the application against the relevant planning scheme, taking into account the matters raised in the representations.
Ms Grigsby said a report was being prepared for the Council and would be published on the City of Hobart’s website ahead of the meeting date.
