The NSW Government today announced additional COVID-19 restrictions affecting the construction industry. In addition, people who travel from the Fairfield local government area to the Northern Beaches and other parts of Sydney must get regular COVID tests.
Construction hours extendedConstruction sites, including private and commercial developments, may temporarily operate on weekends and public holidays under new rules introduced today by the NSW Government, supporting the industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Construction work may occur between 7am to 5pm on Saturdays and limited work from 9am to 5pm on Sundays. Construction work is not permitted on public holidays under the Order.
Amendments to hours will ensure workers can practice social distancing and allow construction work to continue safely throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Order requires all feasible and reasonable measures to minimise noise are taken and only allows low noise work on Sundays. These are works that predominantly occur indoors such as tiling, painting and safety checks.
The Order supports the NSW economy and housing supply, by allowing the construction industry to get jobs done while practicing necessary social distancing and hygiene.
