Positioned within Council’s Community Education & Compliance Department, the successful candidate must be able to work in a busy high-volume environment with strong communication and organisation skills, and previous experience conducting inspections and investigations in the community.
The Community Safety and Animal Management Officer position will involve delivering a diverse range of proactive and reactive services that maximise compliance with Animal Management, Local Laws, Pool Safety & Building and environment related legislation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clear and consistent advice, recommendations and issuing a variety of compliance notices.
This opportunity is a multi-disciplinary role so experience across all areas is essential to ensure that an efficient and effective service is provided and that the outcomes, particularly in the area of development compliance, are of a high standard, consistent with Council and community expectations.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Diploma of Building Inspection/Certification (or equivalent) qualification or willingness to undertake as per agreed personal training and development plan. Demonstrates ability to formulate concise and accurate written reports and correspondence. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to verbally simplify concepts, and display respect, empathy and tact when communicating with stakeholders and community members. Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting building legislation, planning schemes, policies, development conditions and plans of development.
