Council will provide $35,000 through its Community Partnership Grant to assist two organisations stage important events later this year.
A commitment of $25,000 will assist with the staging of the Babinda Harvest Festival.
Founded in 1962, the annual event celebrates the natural beauty and character of Babinda and the surrounding townships in the southern district of the Cairns region.
Council will also provide the Cairns Hockey Association with $10,000 to assist with the hosting of the 2021 Australian Country Championships later this year.
This is the first time the Australian Country Hockey Championships will been held in Cairns, which will attract about 1,500 competitors, officials and supporters for the seven-day competition.
It is expected about 800 visitors will visit the region for the championships and stay for an average of 10 days and provide a $2.3 million boost to the Cairns economy.
This resolution needs to be ratified at the next Ordinary Meeting of Council, to be held on 28 July 2021.
