Continued support for Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation MEDIA RELEASE

Council has committed $150,000 over the next three years in continued support of the Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.

Under the agreement, Council will commit $50,000 each year, as well as additional in-kind accounting support of up to $18,500 in-kind for the 2021-22 financial year only.

Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation was established in 2016 to undertake projects and programs to protect and conserve the Great Barrier Reef.

Central to this undertaking is the Great Barrier Reef Census, a citizen science project to collate data for use throughout the world for the protection and conservation of this natural wonder.

This resolution needs to be ratified at the next Ordinary Meeting of Council, to be held on 28 July 2021.
