Yarding 6911 Change 3816

Numbers rose dramatically, up by 3,816 head to see a total yarding of 6,911 at the Roma Store Sale off the back of the annual sale of a large run of quality local weaners.

Additionally numbers were boosted by the Maranoa Regional Council’s donation of 50 percent selling fees to the RFDS.

The yarding included good numbers of quality local lines with some cattle drawn from the west, and steers accounted for over half of the yarding.

Buyers were present in large numbers, with a return to all regular processors operating and the presence of a southern processor.

Competition was very strong and prices improved significantly from the previous week as buyers competed for quality lines. Medium weight steers rose by 14c to 47c, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed gained 48c/kg. Medium weight heifers improved by 1c to 62c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows rose by 9c, while heavy weight prime 4 score cows lifted in price by 20c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg remain in short supply and sold to a top of 656.2c to average 615c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 660.2c to average 605c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 620.2c to average 563c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg to restockers made to 578.2c to average 538c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed reached a top of 516.2c to average 485c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers reached a top of 620.2c to average 598c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 602.2c to average 557c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to feed sold to 620.2c to average 555c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to feed reached a top of 540.2c to average 491c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers over 400kg to restockers made to a top of 512.2c to average 468c/kg.

The best of the grown steers made to 426.2c to average 426.2c/kg.

The best of the grown heifers sold to a top of 418.2c to average 413c/kg. A large run of PTIC heifers sold on a dollars per head basis to a top of $2400/head.

Heavy weight 3 score cows reached a top of 317.2c to average 305c/kg, While heavy weight 4 score prime cows made to a top of 332.2c to average 326c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls reached a top of 336.2c to average 304c/kg. There was an increase in the number of cows and calves yarded and they reached a top of $2950/unit.
