Colac Otway Responds to five-day COVID19 Lockdown

Colac Otway Shire Council has closed public-facing facilities in accordance with the State Government’s COVID19 Lockdown advice effective from 11.59pm Thursday 15 July.

Council will continue to deliver essential services to the community, subject to further advice, while prioritising the community’s health during the current COVID-19 situation.

Colac Otway Shire Council advises the following Council facilities will be CLOSED to the public in accordance with State Government restrictions from 11.59pm Thursday 15 July 2021 until 11.59pm on Tuesday 27 July 2021 (subject to any changes as directed by the Victorian State Government):

Colac Otway Shire Customer Service Centres (Colac & Apollo Bay) including library chute Colac & Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centres Bluewater, closed (Gym, Pools & Stadium)

COPACC will only open for access to Colac Area Health COVID-19 Vaccination Program and the Colac Otway Shire Council childhood immunisation program

Council payments can be made via phone or online via Council’s website or Bpay.

Rubbish Collection and Waste Drop-Off

Kerbside rubbish collection will continue as normal.

Waste drop-off services will take place as scheduled across the weekend in Beech Forest, Lavers Hill, Carlisle River and Gellibrand. For times and locations visit www.colacotway.vic.gov.au and search ‘drop off facilities’.

Childhood Immunisation Session

Council’s Health Protection unit will hold the childhood immunisation session as scheduled at COPACC on Monday 19 July between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. Please enter via the Gellibrand Street entrance.

When accessing these Council services or if you’re leaving home for one of the approved five reasons, remember to wear a facemask and check-in.

MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

Colac Otway Shire Mayor Cr Kate Hanson acknowledged the difficulties of another lockdown and said it remains important to observe current State Government restrictions and stay safe.

“I, along with the rest of the community, am feeling a level of fatigue and frustration as we go into lockdown again, but these measures are essential to keep Colac Otway residents and all Victorians safe.

“Our Colac Otway community are well aware of how quickly the COVID-19 situation can change, and everyone should be extremely proud of the commitment we’re showing by following restrictions and staying home.

“Please keep supporting and looking after each other, check in with friends and family to make sure they’re doing ok and have access to what they need.

“The COVID-19 situation is tough on all of us, and difficulties are being felt right across the community, from families to casual workers or local businesses.

“Many eateries and retailers are offering takeaway or online shopping, so please support Colac Otway businesses where you can.

“To assist businesses adapt and comply with restrictions and current operating requirements, Council now have a dedicated COVID-19 Business Support Officer. I encourage businesses to contact Council to access this service,” Cr Hanson said.

In line with current restrictions, Council’s customer facing services are closed however staff are available by phone and email. Council’s after-hours service will operate for any urgent enquiries outside of working hours.
