A Karumba man has been arrested after police have recovered weapons that were stolen in a Normanton burglary two year ago. On Thursday, July 15, officers from Normanton and Karumba Police Stations executed a search warrant at a Karumba address. Police said they located a stolen .308 calibre bolt action rifle and a quantity of ammunition at the address. It is further alleged that this rifle was subject to a burglary offence in Normanton in 2019. "Police received information into the whereabouts of the stolen rifle and worked quickly to recover this item," said Senior Constable Jesse Genever of Karumba Station. "It is important that police work in collaboration with the community, to make the community a safer place for all." A 33-year-old Karumba man was charged with unlawful possession of Category B firearm, possession of explosives (ammunition) and possession of tainted property.
