Residents can now have their say on a planning proposal for the Mt Gilead Urban Release Area.

The planning proposal would amend the Campbelltown Local Environment Plan 2015 to rezone parts of the land to include R3 Medium Density Residential, B4 Mixed Use and E2 Environmental Conservation zones.

This proposal would provide the opportunity for a 4000m2 neighbourhood centre, a greater diversity of housing types and a range of open spaces areas across the site.

A key part of the planning proposal is to provide 53ha of open space and environmental lands within the precinct for conservation areas, parks, play spaces and community facilities which will protect land identified under the site’s Biodiversity Certification Agreement.

Following the public exhibition period, Council will consider submissions and any further amendments needed to the planning proposal before it is sent to the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment for finalisation.

The planning proposal is on public exhibition until Monday 2 August.
