The young people of the Western Downs will soon be able to go head-to-head against friends and family as they take on the ultimate obstacle course at Western Downs Regional Council’s upcoming youth event, Fun Run Fever.
Named after the giant obstacle course, Fun Run Fever will take place in Chinchilla next month and invite residents from across the region to come along and participate as a way of celebrating Youth Month 2021.
Council spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said she was excited to see young people from right across the region come together to celebrate.
“Our youth play a big role in our active, vibrant communities, so it’s great to celebrate their contributions and bring everyone together to have some fun at an event that is sure to bring out the young person in everyone,” Cr Maguire said.
“The one-of-a-kind challenge-based fun run features a variety of mega-sized obstacles designed for families, making it the perfect experience for people of all ages and fitness levels.
“Fun Run Fever will also offer more than just a giant obstacle course, with a range of other activities and stalls set up on the day, including local food and beverage stalls, face painting and a jumping castle, creating the ultimate day out.
“To ensure all residents have the opportunity to attend, Council will be running free buses from Dalby, Miles and Tara to transport people to and from the event.
“We love celebrating our region’s young people at our annual Youth Month activities, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to this new event in August.”
Fun Run Fever will occur on Sunday 15 August between 10am and 2pm at the Chinchilla Recreation Grounds and will be free to enter; however, we recommend you bring some cash along on the day for food and beverage vendors.
This Youth Month event will be following COVID Safe plans, and registration to attend is required. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
