Notice of adoption of Local Laws

The Shire of Carnarvon wishes to advise the following Local Laws will come into effect as of 29 July 2021.

CATS LOCAL LAW

The purpose of the local law is to set a ‘standard number’ of cats that may be kept on unless provided for by the local law, the Cat Act, or its associated Regulations.

DOGS LOCAL LAW

The purpose is to make provisions about the confinement of dogs, control the number of dogs that can be kept on premises in the district, and to require removal of dog excreta. The effect is to extend the controls over dogs which exist under the Dog Act 1976 and Regulations.

HEALTH AMENDMENT LOCAL LAW

The purpose is to amend the Shire of Carnarvon Health Local Laws 1998 to prohibit the release of pigeons within the district by a person who is not also an owner of occupier of property in the district, and to correct an error in clause 70 (3) of the local law. The effect is that the Shire of Carnarvon Health Local Laws 1998 are amended.

PARKING LOCAL LAW

The purpose is to enable the Shire to regulate the parking of vehicles within the district and provide for the management and operation of parking facilities under the Shire’s care, control, and management. The effect is that a person parking a vehicle within the parking region is to comply with the provisions of the local law.
