Gannawarra Shire Council’s performance in key service areas has increased significantly, according to the annual community satisfaction survey.
Council recently received the results from the 2021 Local Government Victoria Community Satisfaction Survey, conducted via telephone interviews with 400 Gannawarra Shire Council residents over the age of 18 between February and March 2021.
The results, presented at the July 2021 Council Meeting, identified Council’s performance in 16 service areas residents were questioned about was equal to or had improved compared to the 2020 survey.
These results included major increases in Overall Council Direction (+31), Community Decisions (+16), Lobbying (+16), Business Development/Community Development/Tourism (+13), Consultation and Engagement (+13), Overall Performance (+13) and Customer Service (+10).
The survey also found that Council’s performance in 15 service areas was equal or above the State-wide average, highlighted by Elderly Support Services, Waste Management and Enforcement of Local Laws. This included Council’s COVID-19 response (74), which was above the State-wide average of 73.
“Council thanks resident for taking the time earlier this year to complete this important survey, which helps assess our performance and seeks insight into ways we can provide improved or more efficient service delivery,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
“The survey showed that Council’s overall performance is on par with municipalities across Victoria and our Small Rural counterparts, but there is more we can do to improve what we offer to our residents.
“Council will note the results of this year’s survey and strive to ensure responses received in the 2022 survey at least match or exceed these figures.”
