Wyndham City has announced a new event that aims to inform residents about how they can access local services and stay safe.
The Living Your Best Life event, to be held at the Encore Events Centre next month, will feature presentations and up to 30 stalls and service providers who will offer attendees information on financial counselling, energy rebates, scams, emergency planning, safety information, Centrelink, legal rights and how to build strong community connections.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Adele Hegedich said: “Over the last year, it has been hard for residents to stay in touch with new offerings and services in the area, particularly since the pandemic so drastically changed the way we live and access services.”
Community Safety portfolio holder Cr Susan McIntyre said: “We’re thankful that Victoria Police and Fire Rescue Victoria are attending the event so that they can provide us with advice on how to be safe in our homes, businesses and in the wider community.”
“We’re also aware that unfortunately over the last year, some of our most vulnerable residents have increasingly been the targets of scams.”
“We hope that these presentations and stalls will equip residents with the skills and knowledge they need to safeguard themselves and their loved ones.”
“Why not take the opportunity to have a ‘Coffee with a Cop’ as well from 10.30am until 2.30 pm.”
The Living Your Best Life event also offers those who hold a valid concession card a $250 Power Saving Bonus. To access this bonus, you must bring your valid concession card and electricity bill with you to the event.
