Canterbury-Bankstown’s annual jobs and skills expo, Careers+, has gone online!

The City of Canterbury Bankstown has created an online resource page, to support local job seekers increase their skills and find employment in a COVID Safe way.

Mayor Khal Asfour said he is pleased more than 35 organisations are keen to connect with local students and job seekers.

“We are providing information and the resources to give job seekers – young and old – a place to start their search for training, apprenticeships and jobs,” Mayor Asfour said.

“Many people without enough work are anxious, and this pandemic hasn’t made it any easier. It’s more important than ever to provide direct resources to our community.”

Like the rest of Sydney, Canterbury-Bankstown is feeling the effects of COVID-19 with unemployment in the December 2020 quarter at 8.8 per cent.

“It is difficult, and we want to do what we can to connect employers with employees – local jobs for local people,” Mayor Asfour said.

“I encourage those needing financial support, to access the Federal Government’s COVID-19 Disaster Payment through Services Australia and for businesses to reach out to Service NSW for support.

Opportunities on the Careers+ web page includes apprenticeships for mechanics, electricians, builders and more. Information on training providers, trainee and apprenticeships, employment agencies, and education providers can be found at cb.city/CareersPlus
