Lake Cargelligo residents may have noticed some activity in Liberty Park over the past few days as contractors commence the installation of an underground irrigation system.
Lachlan Shire Council General Manager Greg Tory said “to minimise disruption to park users the works will be undertaken in zones. Safety barriers will be in place and we ask that the community do not enter the construction zone.
Council has appointed Dubbo based contractor, Aquawest Pumping and Irrigation Specialists to progress the installation and in the current COVID environment all reasonable steps have been taken to ensure the contractor operates within their COVID Safety Plan.”
It is anticipated that zones 1 - 3 will be completed in the coming weeks and stage 4 later this year.
“Liberty Park is a focal point and social hub for residents and visitors and this initiative will enhance the appeal of the recreational space, particularly during the summer months,” Mr Tory added.
The project is jointly funded by Council $85,000, with an additional $45,000 secured under Phase 2 of the NSW Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure grant program.
