As a popular place to exercise, Manly has been identified as a potential hotspot for the transmission of COVID-19. Council is now working with the Local Area Command to reduce the risk there.
From 7am tomorrow (Saturday 24 July), all beach parking between Manly and Queenscliff is limited to 1-hour parking, between the hours 7am and 7pm.
Changes to parking will give locals the chance to exercise and then move on. Restrictions apply to all vehicles. Police and Council rangers will be monitoring and enforcing restrictions for the safety of the community.
Community members may report an illegal parking issue here.
With local case numbers rising (link), it’s important the community understand that the beaches are for exercise only and move on quickly so that they can share the space equally and safely.
The restrictions are within section 50 Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Act 1999, by order of the General Manager.
The restrictions will be in effect until further notice.
