Frenchs Forest Town Centre – a step closer

Today the NSW Government announces it is exhibiting the Frenchs Forest Place Strategy rezoning package, which considers relocating Forest High School to deliver a new town centre and education precinct.

The announcement is the state government’s latest step in rezoning the Frenchs Forest Planned Precinct.

Frenchs Forest was identified as a strategic centre back in 2014. Since then, state planning policies and infrastructure investment have led to the development of the Northern Beaches Hospital and major road infrastructure upgrades.

Council was required to prepare a Hospital Precinct Structure Plan to help guide future growth in the area, which identified a three-phased delivery of 5,360 new homes and 2,300 new jobs to 2037. The NSW Government is now implementing phase one of Council’s Structure Plan which delivers 2,000 new homes and 2,000 new jobs.

Infrastructure funding, delivery and sustainable buildings remain as key priorities for Council. It’s important that any growth in Frenchs Forest is matched by infrastructure and best practice sustainability standards.
