A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Isaac Regional Council for a permanent full time Compliance Officer, based in Moranbah. Reporting to the Compliance and Integration Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the Lead Compliance Officer in animal control services with the enforcement of Local Laws and State Legislation.

Your duties on a daily basis will predominately be working with domestic animals including all or some of tasks listed below:
Undertake enforcement and education programs/activities aimed to achieve compliance with Council's Local Laws and State legislation; Handle animals predominately domestic dogs in a confident and safe manner; Conduct regular animal compliance patrols with respect to animals at large; Animal pick-ups (wandering and contained animals), animal husbandry, dog registration monitoring, dog attacks and other nuisance activities in accordance with the applicable legislation; Deal with customer complaints within the animal sector - domestic animals and livestock collections may be required; Promptly attending to and monitoring customer requests/complaints, and providing feedback to complainants in accordance with Council’s Service Commitments; Participating in rostered after hour’s service; Report instances of overgrown/overhanging vegetation, abandoned vehicles etc.The successful candidate will have:
Knowledge of animal behaviour and identification and demonstrate the ability to handle animals in a confident and safe manner. Certificate III in Local Government (or equivalent) or willing to obtain. Experience in navigating and interpreting State legislation and local laws is desirable. Experience working with and handling a variety of animals. Ability to formulate concise and accurate written reports and correspondence. Proven written communication skills including the ability to draft reports, compile affidavits and take investigation notes. Proven ability to work well as part of a team and to work efficiently in a support role. A high level of experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.The successful applicant will be primarily located in Moranbah but will be subject to travel throughout the Region which may include overnight stays in Council accommodation.
For this position we offer:
Salary $60,868.33 per annum plus allowances; Normally 72.5 hours per fortnight; RDO in accordance with Council Policy; 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading; 12% super in accordance with Policy.For more details on this position contact the Manager Community Education & Compliance during business hours.
