Wollondilly Shire Council has welcomed $5 million worth of funding through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Program, which will be used to begin construction on the Silverdale Road Upgrade.
This project will begin in the Silverdale township in early September 2021, with major improvements planned between Warradale Road and the Silverdale shopping centre.
Work will include resurfacing the road, widening road shoulders to allow road side parking, kerb & gutter works, drainage, a new footpath and town entry zones.
Mayor Robert Khan said that the upgrade would be welcomed by Silverdale and Warragamba residents as well as the broader Wollondilly community.
“This project will see the quality of Silverdale Road made more suitable for the growing demand of the Wollondilly community and set it up as a connection route to the planned airport at Badgery’s Creek,” he said.
“I would like to thank the Federal Government and the Member for Hume, Angus Taylor MP for helping to make this important project possible.”
Nace Civil Engineering have been awarded the tender for construction, with the works scheduled to take approximately one year.
