Been stuck at home and looking at ways to nourish your mind?
When television and streaming doesn’t cut it during our ongoing restrictions, why not consider becoming a library member in Maroondah and check out our huge range of downloadable e-books.
Many community members have already reignited their passion for reading during the pandemic, through delving into our e-books readily available for members. In fact, the surge in the numbers of people borrowing e-books has seen them flying off our virtual shelves.
In Maroondah, we have two public libraries – Realm Library in Ringwood and Croydon Library. Figures show e-book loans in the 2021 financial year have increased by more than 19 per cent compared to the previous year, while memberships have increased by more than 12 per cent.
Maroondah Mayor, Councillor Kylie Spears, encouraged more in the community to discover just how much is available to them at our libraries.
The Eastern Regional Library Corporation (ERLC) manages both our libraries, as well as library services in Knox and Yarra Ranges councils. There are now almost 90,000 members at Realm and Croydon libraries, thanks to the more than 10,000 new members who signed up in the last financial year.
Eastern Regional Libraries offers a host of downloadable resources for members that can be accessed at any time of the day. Members can brown from more than 60,000 free e-book and e-audiobook titles for adults, teens and children, as well as e-magazines, boardgames, DVDs, music and more.
Also, ‘call and collect’ options are available at Maroondah’s two library locations during periods of lockdown.
To become a member, visit the Eastern Regional Library website and follow the steps to sign up and get free access. Library staff are available to answer any questions and assist with enquiries over the phone on 1300 737 277 or visit www.yourlibrary.com.au.
