Council advises residents of free dump days for domestic green waste following the introduction of a user-pays system from 1 July 2021. The first free dump days for domestic green waste are scheduled for August 2021, with an additional two dates to be provided at a later date.

For residents dumping domestic green waste at other times throughout the year, a $9 fee per ute or trailer load applies. Mareeba Shire Mayor Angela Toppin explained that the fee helps to offset the costs incurred with responsibly managing green waste, and establishes a user-pays system.
“Council shreds green waste which is used beneficially in the agricultural sector as compost, supporting local jobs and industry. Ratepayers have previously subsidised these costs however, Council has determined that a user-pays model is more appropriate,” Cr Toppin said.
The complete list of dates is available on Council’s website and will also be published on Facebook in the lead-up to the free domestic green waste dump days.
“Mareeba Shire Council will publish upcoming dates for free domestic green waste dump days to ensure that residents can take advantage of the opportunity to dump their green waste at no charge.”
