Gannawarra Shire families will be pleased to know that construction works at the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre are officially underway, with works planned to extend the current building.
The expanded Gannawarra Shire Children's Centre aims to increase the enrolment intake capacity of the centre and enable Council to provide three-year-old kindergarten sessions in 2022.
"The new expanded Children’s Centre will help provide approximately 50 children wanting to enrol in 2022 with places, fulfilling the State Government’s goal of providing funded three-year-old kindergarten to all children.”
“These works ensure that Council continues to prioritise the needs of young families and the educational outcomes for our Gannawarra children.”
Over the next few months as works progress the following services offered at the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre will temporarily move to new sites as listed below:
Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre Kindergarten classes will be relocated to the Kerang South Primary School. Please call the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre at 03 5452 1357 or email [email protected] for further details. Maternal and Child Health appointments in Kerang will be conducted at the Northern District Community Health Kerang building until the end of 2021. Note, appointments and enquiries must still be made by contacting Council on (03) 5450 9333. Immunisation sessions have been re-located to the Sir Gorton John Library in Kerang. Appointments are essential and can be made by phoning Council on (03) 5450 9333. For further details on immunisations please visit www.gsc.vic.gov.au/ImmunisationMr O’Reilly said that funding for the expansion of the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre is being supported through the Victorian Schools Building Authority with works scheduled to be completed by the start of the 2022 year.
