Council will enter into a three-year, $9000 funding agreement to bring the Crocodile Trophy mountain bike event to the Far North from 2022 to 2024.
The Crocodile Trophy was due to held in Cairns in October, but following international border restrictions, event organiser Worldwide Sports Agency Pty Ltd, has postponed the event until to 4-12 November 2022.
The event, which is held across the region, Cairns, Tablelands and Douglas, is expected to attract 200 competitors, support crew and spectators and deliver an estimated economic benefit of about $119,000 to Cairns.
Council will provide $3,000 in-kind support per annum.
The above resolution needs to be ratified at the next Ordinary Meeting of Council, to be held on 25 August 2021.
