LandCruiser convoy to roll through Central Highlands raising money for drought stricken farmers

Posted on August 12, 2021

Central Highlands looks forward to welcoming a convoy of 30, 40 Series Toyota LandCruisers from across Queensland to our region as a part of this year’s Long Drive for Drought initiative.

Now in it’s third year, Long Drive for Drought will see participants travel nearly 3,000 km through regional Queensland to raise money for Drought Angels, a Chinchilla based not-for-profit providing personalised, practical, heartfelt, and discreet assistance to farming families in need.

This year’s travellers will pass through Bauhinia and Rolleston before stopping overnight at the Springsure Gun Club, where Central Highlands Regional Council will host a family fun afternoon.

Festivities will include a Sprinsgure Gun Club ‘come and try’ event, bouncing horse races, jumping castle, petting zoo, box fort Nerf war, live music, bar and roast dinner with all profits donated to Drought Angels.

‘As one of the 45 councils currently drought declared, I am excited Long Drive for Drought has decided to take their trip through our beautiful region,’ Central Highlands Regional Council Mayor Kerry Hayes said.

‘With many of our own farmers facing hard times, I am proud we can partner with organisations such as Drought Angels to help bring a little hope to our community.’

This sentiment is shared by local grazier and councillor, Deputy Mayor Christine Rolfe, who has been touched by the show of support from our south east Queensland neighbours.

‘As we continue to face dry times, events like this help remind us we are all in this together with Aussies supporting Aussies,’ Cr Rolfe said.

‘Welcoming this convoy of travellers will go a long way in supporting Springsure, Rolleston and Bauhinia locals with extra money being spent in the communities and opportunities for our local farmers to share their experiences with eager ears,’ she said.

Come along and join the fun from 2.00 pm until 9.00 pm, Sunday 29 August 2021 at Sprinsure Gun Club, see more event information here.
