Traffic conditions have changed at The Strand, Dee Why, with vehicles only able to travel northbound between Oaks Avenue and Dee Why Parade from this week.

The works are being delivered by Northern Beaches Council as part of the NSW Government’s ‘Streets as Shared Spaces’ grants program, which funds the installation of temporary activation projects providing more places for people, and supporting our local businesses in a safe and relaxing way.

While we can’t enjoy new and improved spaces together yet, we can’t wait to unveil them to you when lockdown ends. When the time comes, we’ll have more outdoor dining and car-free areas for walking and cycling in Dee Why!

Earlier this week the following work was completed:

The Strand closed to southbound traffic between Oaks Avenue and Dee Why ParadeLine marking to support one-way traffic flowTwo-way cycle way installedPlanters installed to separate the cycle way and brighten the street.

Access into the beach carpark does not change, but exit is now limited to the westbound direction along Dee Why Parade. Visitors to the area are asked to plan their trip and please use Pittwater Road if travelling past Dee Why onto the southern beaches.

Work on all the changes to The Strand as part of Streets as Shared Spaces will be complete in the coming weeks.
