Community groups, clubs and organisations across Ararat Rural City are encouraged to apply for a share in the latest round of Council’s Community Grants opening next week.

Providing funds on a 2:1 ratio to a value of up to $5,000, the grant program assists community groups and sporting clubs to enhance their facilities, programs, or events across the region.

Mayor Jo Armstrong is thrilled to open the first round of Council’s Community Grants Program for the 2021/22 year.

“Supporting a diversity of community groups and clubs across our municipality is an important function of our Council,” Cr Armstrong said.

“Community grants are offered multiple times every year, giving eligible groups the chance to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to deliver projects, activities and events.

“Funding assistance from Council recognises the vital role local groups and clubs have on delivering social benefits and enhancing community life.”

For several years, the program has helped many community organisations across the municipality with funding programs, upgrade facilities and enhance operations.

“During the pandemic, some organisations have struggled to maintain sports, cultural or recreational activities. These grants give local groups and clubs a much-needed boost to expand their facilities and grow.

“We encourage groups to be innovative and creative in addressing needs within your community.”

“Strong and inclusive communities are the lifeblood of our region and what makes Ararat Rural City a great place to live,” Cr Armstrong concluded.

Each request will be considered by Council and applicants will then be notified in writing of the outcome.

Applications for the latest round will close on 30 August 2021.
