Following the announcement of a one-week snap lockdown from 5 pm yesterday for the Moree Plains Shire Local Government Area, all non-essential Council facilities will be temporarily closed, and all staff who can do so will work from home to adhere to the Public Health Order.

Services that will remain open are:

Payments will need to be made over the phone or electronically. ✅ Waste facilities will remain as normal - Sites are operating as normal for essential use only (the disposal of waste for health and safety reasons) Please ensure you continue to sign in via QR code and follow staff and signage instructions. Contactless payment preferred at Moree Waste Facility ✅ Kerbside collection will remain as normal ✅ Shared pathways will remain open for people to enjoy exercise, however, we ask people to adhere to the Public Health Order - exercise outdoors in groups of no more than 2 (excluding members of the same household)
Moree Plains Council’s General Manager Lester Rodgers said the organisation is taking every step possible to ensure essential services are delivered as normal despite the increased restrictions.
“As of today, Sunday 15 August we have implemented Business Continuity Plans for all of Council’s services in order to ensure we continue essential service delivery that keeps our community running,” said Mr Rodgers.
“It will still be all hands on deck behind the scenes, with our numerous teams of workers continuing to deliver our services in ways that minimise human contact and adheres to the Public Health Order requirements.”
Council’s Moree Customer Service team will also be available over the phone and will be able to assist with any enquiries as usual (02)6757 3222.
“The Moree and Mungindi libraries (Big Sky Libraries) also have a huge selection of online options such as e-books and e-magazines that can be found via this link.”
The community is encouraged to regularly check Council’s social media channels for any updates regarding Council’s services.
