Children at Narrabeen Children’s Centre and the Roundhouse in Manly are in the swing of Science Week participating in in several experiments!
One showed a chemical reaction between acid (vinegar) and a base (baking soda). The results were spectacular, with an impressive volcano erupting with colourful bubbles thanks to the expanding gases.
The children also investigated the effect of osmosis as coloured water aims to reach equilibrium when placing paper towel in cups and the water starts to transfer. This is where science and the arts meet! The experiment revealed the colour wheel and created secondary colours when the primary colours mixed.
Children also made music through science by exploring musical pitch by filling cups with water at different volumes. Children learn that pitch changes as the water volumes change.
Our educators have been working hard to plan various experiments and share ideas across centres to inspire the children and support the Science week program.
