Middlemount has turned 40, and residents past and present are invited to a three-day birthday party celebrating the unique community and the people that make it special.

Division 7 Councillor Jane Pickels said the mining community of Middlemount has touched thousands of lives from across the country and even abroad.

“For 40 years Middlemount has been made all the better from the colourful people that have weaved the fabric of the community. Everyone is welcome back to celebrate this important milestone.”

The festivities, Celebrating 40 Years of Middlemount, will run from Friday, 3 September to Sunday, 5 September, with events and activities for every member of the family.

Cr Pickels said Middlemount was a town that left a mark on everyone who came.

“There is no other place I would rather call home.

“We are not only celebrating 40 years of Middlemount; we are also celebrating entering a new decade for our great town.”

Cr Pickels is encouraging everyone who has a connection to Middlemount to come and party it up.

“So many of you have helped make Middlemount the powerhouse it is today.

“Come and share your stories, have a laugh and say thank you to the town that made us a community.

“Milestones like a 40th don’t happen very often and definitely can’t come together without a lot of work and support.

“We would like to acknowledge the Middlemount Community School P&C and the vast number of volunteers, business and community supporters that have made this well-deserved celebration the must-be at event.”
