Boulia Shire Council 21 Aug 2021

There were more bid cards than bulls on offer at the Whitaker Beef bull sale on Friday, and demand didn't slow as 31 herd bulls went through the sale ring at Eidsvold.

Topping at $12,000 on two occasions, 91 per cent of the catalogue - which included Charbrays, Charolais, red Brahmans and grey Brahmans - was cleared for an average of $7810.

First to hit the top money was a Charbray, knocked down to Chris Hocking and Ann Clarke, Stanmore, Mundubbera.

A red-pigmented bull with plenty of muscle capacity, Whitaker Mr 886 was sired by a purebred Charolais bull and out of a Charbray cow.

At 25 months of age, he entered the ring weighing 808 kilograms, with P8 and rib fat depths of 11mm and 9mm respectively, an eye muscle area of 131 square centimetres and intramuscular fat of 5.2pc.

He measured 39cm in scrotal circumference, with semen motility of 80pc and morphology of 72pc.

Cameron Bygrave, Eidsvold Livestock & Property, buyer George Hacon, Hacon Pastoral Company, Kallala Station, Boulia, and vendor Clint Whitaker, and the top-selling red Brahman, Whitaker Mr 861.

Next to hit the top money was Whitaker Mr 861, a 22-month-old red Brahman.

Purchased by long-time client George Hacon, Hacon Pastoral Company, Kallala Station, Boulia, the youngster tipped the scales at 630kg, with an EMA of 124sq cm, IMF of 4.7pc, and P8 and rib fat of 9mm and 7mm, respectively.

He measured 32.5cm in the scrotum, with semen motility of 85pc and morphology of 60pc.

A second-top price of $11,000 was also achieved twice, with the Reiser family taking home two grey Brahman sire prospects.

Volume buyers included the Dwyer family securing five bulls, Eureka Grazing taking four and the Hair family also with four.

Vendor Clint Whitaker said the catalogue presented value buying and the results were good for all involved in the sale.

One bull was sold after the fall of the hammer to see 30 of 31 bulls sold for a 96pc clearance and average of $7683.

Selling agents: Eidsvold Livestock & Property, with Corey Evans, Aussie Land & Livestock, Kingaroy, as auctioneer.
