Hurlingham Park Preschool was officially opened in a virtual celebration on Friday 13 August.
The opening was held to celebrate the transformation of the popular Brighton East preschool into a larger, much more functional early years education centre.
The zoom opening event was attended by Councillors, State Member for Southern Metropolitan Region Nina Taylor, President of the Hurlingham Preschool Parent Committee and staff and parents of the kindergarten.
Nestled in a parkland setting in Brighton East, the popular Hurlingham Preschool has been transformed into a larger, much more functional early years education centre.
The collaborative and thoughtful design engages children, families and staff from the moment they walk through the doors.
The design incorporates an earthy colour scheme, abundance of natural light and dynamic playground with water pump, creek bed, sandpit and digging patch, to create the sense of that the preschool is a seamless part of Hurlingham Park.
Inside, the preschool has been creatively reimagined to include two large indoor play spaces; a demonstration kitchen; new meeting room; and remodelled bathroom amenities for children and teachers.
“We couldn’t have hoped for a better start to our daughter’s education – the beautiful new facilities, friendly and welcoming teachers and staff, and supportive and connected community,” says parent Danielle. “Our daughter happily bounces through the door when she arrives.”
This much-needed upgrade was jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Bayside City Council.
Mayor Cr Laurence Evans OAM said the upgrade is an exciting offering for families in Bayside's north.
"The facility provides wonderful spaces for inside and outside sensory play. We're proud to have supported this important upgrade and we're confident the preschool will bring joy to many children and their families," Cr Evans said.
