This Father’s Day, head along to the Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery to enjoy a sausage sizzle and celebrate the memory of dads everywhere.
Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Committee Chair Cr James O’Shea said the event gave families throughout the Region an opportunity to remember their dad while enjoying the beautiful gardens surrounding the cemetery.
“This is the opportunity to gather with family and friends while enjoying a ‘snag’ around the ‘barbie’ as you remember the special times with your dad,” Cr O’Shea said.
“Father’s Day is a time to celebrate important people in our lives but for those with dads that have passed this may be a difficult time. Sunday’s event allows the community to honour their dads and brighten up the cemetery by laying some flowers in a complimentary blue vase.
“Visitors can enjoy the pop-up flower market as well as wander around the local cars that will be on display, giving guests a chance to share a yarn or two about the important men in our life.
“The Cemetery Office will be open so that visitors can search the database to find members of their family tree.
“If you haven’t been out to the Drayton and Toowoomba cemetery recently this would be a great opportunity to take a look at the changes to the gardens where many of our loved ones lay at rest.
“Father’s play an important part in peoples’ lives and this is a wonderful occasion for people to remember those happy days in the stunning surroundings of the Drayton and Toowoomba cemetery.”
The Father’s Day event at Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery is from 9am – 12pm on Sunday 5 September.
