The nuts and (Blue Mountain) Bolt of Middlemount's 40th

Father’s Day morning is set to scale new heights in the final item of Middlemount’s 40th celebrations program on Sunday, 5 September.

The Blue Mountain Bolt is a hill climb challenge for participants of all ages to sprint, jog or walk from the Middlemount Sportsground up to Blue Mountain Park and back.

Isaac Regional Council Division 7 Councillor Jane Pickels said the 4.3km course offered some great views, regardless of how quickly it was scaled.

“Sport is a huge part of our Isaac culture and being part of the Bolt, as either a competitor or spectator, is not only a fantastic way to start the day but also a wonderful way to celebrate the great Middlemount spirit,” Cr Pickels said.

“There will be awards for first, second and third place in Open and Junior Men’s and Open and Junior Women’s categories, with all pre-registered entrants taking home a memento of the day.

“And if style is more your speed, we’re also awarding a special $100 Shop Isaac gift card to the best-dressed entrant.”

Cr Pickels is calling on anyone interested in participating to make a weekend out of visiting Middlemount.

“There has never been a better time to make a trip with the family to Middlemount.

“The Blue Mountain Bolt is the last activity in a long list of festivities for Middlemount’s 40th birthday weekend, from Friday, 3 September to Sunday, 5 September, for every member of the family.”

The Blue Mountain Bolt is being presented in conjunction with the Move It NQ and is kicking off at 8am on Sunday, 5 September. Check-in for participants is open from 7am to 7.40am at the Middlemount Sportsground. Participants are encouraged to pre-register at  speakup.isaac.qld.gov.au/bluemountainbolt.

Following the event, a BBQ breakfast will be available back at the Middlemount Sportsground for all participants and their cheerleaders.

Cr Pickels said events like the Bolt help our communities to thrive.

“We are so lucky to have such energetic communities and the people that make them amazing.

“Events like this and the Middlemount 40th celebrations require a lot of planning and preparation and a great deal of people power to bring to life. This would not happen without the help from volunteers and community groups, so we say thank you.”
