Support for Cairns Pride Festival

Council will provide more than $18,000 in funding support for the 2021 Cairns Pride Festival.

Queensland Aids Council Inc. will receive $14,907 in support through the hiring of the Tanks Art Centre for the Pride Exhibition and Pride Fair Day, as well as $3,232 in-kind support for the installation of a Rainbow Crossing in Cairns city.

The Cairns Pride celebrations will be from 8-24 October and will include a free art exhibition from 15-24 October at Tanks featuring works created by LGBTIQ+, Sistergirl and Brotherboy artists, and the popular Pride Fair Day at Tanks on 17 October.

The Rainbow Crossing will be installed in the new dining precinct from 8-23 October and provides a highly visible symbol of support for the LGBTI+ community.
