Have your say on the Draft Financial Plan

Published on 26 August 2021

Gannawarra Shire Residents are invited to provide their feedback on the Draft Financial Plan, with submissions accepted until 5pm on Friday, 24 September 2021.

The Draft Financial Plan, which is a requirement of the Local Government Act 2020, aims to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the Council.

“We encourage members of the public to review the Draft Financial Plan and provide any feedback, noting the plan focuses on the long-term financial future of the Gannawarra Shire,” said Mayor Charlie Gillingham.

“Comments received on the Draft Financial Plan will be considered by Council at its 20 October 2021 meeting.”

The Draft Financial Plan is built on four key strategic actions, including balancing the budget, maintaining assets, ensuring a low level of debt, and ensuring cash assets are maintained over the life of the ten-year plan.

The Draft Financial Plan is built on the adopted 2021/2022 Budget and Revenue and Rating Plan. It is based on economic assumptions that are disclosed in the plan.

“Whilst the purpose of the Financial Plan is to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the Council, it is presented at a point in time and the plan will be continually reviewed into the future,” said Mayor Gillingham.

Community members can view copies of the Draft Financial Plan at Council’s Customer Service Centres in Cohuna and Kerang, and online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/financialplan.

Public comments on the Plan will be accepted in writing via email to [email protected]; by post to PO Box 287, Kerang VIC 3579; or online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/financialplan.
