Works are substantially complete with sand bags in place to trial the traffic management arrangements before placing the various islands and line markings.
The Boulevard is a key collector road that has a history of speeding and minor crashes.
To address safety concerns and to improve the overall management of traffic and pedestrians in the area, Council were successful in obtaining a grant of $187,169 under the Vulnerable Road Users Program (Department of State Growth) to provide the improvements by defining crossing locations through the installation of outstands, kerb ramps and pedestrian refuges, and reduced traffic speeds with central traffic islands in a separation (median) lane.
Works also include a footpath along the western side of The Boulevard, from Montello Primary School to Joyce Street.
Works are expected to be complete by 10 September 2021.
