A new shine will soon be put on late night footy training with the installation of new LED lights at Gloucester Park Oval confirmed for this financial year following a State Government funding commitment of $36,000 for the project.   Allocated via the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF), the State funds will be pooled with funds already committed by the Shire ($40,000), Augusta Margaret River Football Netball Club ($25,000), and the Western Australia Football Commission ($10,000) to deliver the project. Augusta Margaret River Football Netball club Joanna McLarty said the new lights were very exciting as they will provide high quality lighting to support evening events.  “These new lights will serve our football and sporting community for many years to come,” she said. “We are looking forward to now been able to host night games next season.” Shire of Augusta Margaret River Manager Community Sport and Recreation Dylan Brown said besides vastly improved light intensity and coverage, the LEDs offering lower running costs, less maintenance, and environmental efficiencies. “This is a great win for footy and all the other user groups of the Gloucester Park main oval,” he said. “It’s been on the wish list for quite some time, so we are all feeling pretty excited about getting to hit the go button. “High quality recreation facilities are important in encouraging a healthy and engaged community. “Good light makes for both better and safer play.” Mr Brown thanked the co-funders of the project with a special mention for the Augusta Margaret River Football Netball Club. “As a community organisation, the local footy club has really worked hard to achieve their funding contribution,” he said. “Thank you for your efforts and we look forward to bringing the project to fruition.”
