The Gannawarra Shire community is invited to provide their feedback on the Draft Creative Gannawarra Strategy 2021-2025 and the Draft Public Art Policy, with submissions accepted until 5 pm on Tuesday, 14 September 2021.

The community consultation is the first to be led by Creative Gannawarra, with feedback received on both strategic documents aiming to help guide the future direction of the creative sector in the Gannawarra Shire over the next four years.

“The Creative Gannawarra Strategy and the Public Art Policy reflect Council’s commitment to effective engagement with the Gannawarra community in promoting and supporting local creative people, industries, and organisations,” said Chief Executive Officer Tom O’Reilly.

“We encourage the creative community to review the documents and provide feedback, noting that they will guide future delivery of Council’s creative programs and projects, and the inclusion of artistic works in its urban strategic planning.”

The Creative Gannawarra Strategy 2021-2025 and the Public Art Policy have been developed in the wider context of the Council’s vision, values, policies, and plans for its community, with prior engagement alongside the creative community helping inform the strategic direction.

“Gannawarra is a vibrant community, and the Council is looking to work with artists and local creatives to facilitate art projects that inspire creativity, build identity, and celebrate sustainability,” said Mr. O’Reilly.

The Creative Gannawarra Strategy 2021-2025 is built on four key strategic activities, including; Community, Partnerships, Programming, and Engagement. The Public Art Policy provides a framework for the commission and acquisition of artworks that will become either Public Art or part of the Council’s Art Collection.

Community members can take part in the consultation process online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/creativestrategy.

Feedback will also be accepted in writing via email to [email protected] and by post to PO Box 287, Kerang VIC 3579.
