A low trough over Mount Isa has provided welcome overnight rain though the prognosis for more after Thursday is not great. The official bureau recorded 16.2mm to 7.30am and rain is still falling lightly though is expected to clear. Camooweal did better still with 32.2mm with Lake Julius getting the best falls with 51.2mm. Further east didn't do as well with Cloncurry 5.8mm, Julia Creek 4.8mm while Boulia, Richmond and Hughenden, Normanton and Burketown missed out. Mornington Island got 1.9mm. The rain is caused by a transient trough making the air cool down and condense into clouds. Thursday's forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a high (80pc) chance of showers or a thunderstorm this morning with a top of 30. Sunny weather returns Friday with a top of 33 though there is a 5pc chance of rain. After similar conditions on Saturday, there is a better chance of rain on Sunday with a 30pc chance and only minimal falls of up to 0.2mm predicted. A small chance of rain continues into next week and max temperatures will be more pleasant only getting to the mid 20s. Lake Moondarra is at 53.35pc full and Lake Julius is at 86.48pc.
